I've decided to get some drum bags rather than cases, because they seem easier to manage, not as bulky, and just as protective. Anyway, what are good suggestions you g uys have? Beato seems to be a good company, but any suggestions for good cases or reviews is certainly welcome.

Just got soft cases with my Yamaha drums. They seem to pretty cool, but I guess alot of it is personal preference.

Bags are not just as protective. But if you're careful and are the only person who moves your gear, they should work fine.

I have a Protection Racket cymbal bag that I really like. For everything else, I really like the Beato bags, firm ones.

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">Oh, I meant soft cases when I said bag, unless there's some third distinguishment I'm not aware of. Thanks. I've checked out beato and protection racket and I think I might go with the racket.

I'm partial to the wings bags that are lined with thick felt on the inside. They are light, durable, and very affordable. Plus, they are stiff enough to keep their shape when they are empty which helps when you are inserting yor drum.

i have protection racket for my bass and snare. and trust me...thay are not as 'protective' as hard shell. this was kind of a 'freak' accident, but i always put all my gear on one cart (one trip)
it was freezing cold outside, as i was coming in the back door of this club, there was a little 'hump' near the door. well i didn't hit it straigt on and my shit tipped and the bass drum fell off and hit frozen concrete landing edge of the hoop first. that was the look on my face as i heard and watched helplessly as it hit the ground. when i took it out of the case i found my hoop is cracked straight through. beautiful yamaha maple customs. the worst part is.....i have used ALL hard shell cases for 20 yrs. i just bought the bags this past winter. i think it was the second or third time i used them. ohhhh what an ugly sound that was. one of the full time players i know here in chicago puts his bass drum in a bag...then into a case. i remember giving him flack for it....saying, what an overprotective waste of time....i'm such an ass

Soft cases to me are good if you just have to carry and hual drums for the car to the club. If you ever get into "touring" or something where they might get handled a little ruff you need hard cases! I got those skb hardcases and a rockbag "golfbag" like case for hardware. It's been working pretty good so far.

Protection racket seem cool if you just want to protect them for getting scratched.. thats about it from what I see.

Get ya some big custom ATA cases Now those will last!
